The IDEAS4RESULTS PROGRAMME is a self-directed course which employees complete in their own time and at their own pace.

The course consists of 6 sessions, with each session consisting of a 15-20 minute video containing an engaging blend of content and personal examples to illustrate how the material can be applied in practice to get results. This is followed by an interactive online component to engage the participants and ensure that they can apply the key concepts within their own jobs and contexts.

Step 1: Setting it up

Simply give us a list of the names and email addresses of the employees in your business who want to complete the IDEAS4RESULTS PROGRAMME.

Step 2: Accessing the Ideas4Results Course

Each employee will be sent an email giving them instructions to access the course, which will be conducted entirely online. Below is a screenshot which shows the main page for the course:

Step 3: Engaging with the content

The employee will firstly be able to view the initial introductory video, which introduces Gavin and the course as a whole. The remainder of the course will then become accessible.

The course is made up of 6 different sessions, each structured as a “cog” or interactive online tool designed to engage participants with the content. Each cog consists of:

  • A 15-20 minute video in which Gavin present the course content through an engaging blend of theory, personal examples and practical tips to drive home the key lesson of the session
  • Structured questions which prompt the participant to engage with the material and actually apply it within their own context
  • Group insights where participants can share with other employees their thoughts about how the material applies to their own experience within the organization

A screenshot of one of the cogs appears below:

Step 4: Going through the course

At the end of the session, the employee will have produced output which applies the content directly to their unique work situation. They will have consolidated the underlying principle to better help them manage their ideas and to address the selected problem area.  The aim is to turn the learning into something concrete and practical.

Once a particular session has been completed, the employee will be granted access to the next session in the course. This gives the employee complete flexibility to work through the course material at his or her own pace. Some employees might go through the course material in as little as a week; others might take a month or longer.

Step 5: Hand-outs

Each participant will receive access to a number of hand-outs which they are encouraged to print out and keep handy as a tangible reminder of the key concepts covered in the course. There are 11 hand-outs in total, covering all the material in the course. An example of one of these appears below.

Step 6: Reporting

On a monthly basis, we will provide you with a report detailing:

  • the number of employees who have engaged with the course
  • the progress that these employees have made in working through the 6 sessions of the course
  • any feedback on the content of the course and the relevance of the content to employees’ jobs and work experience

Step 7: Long-lasting impact

Once the participant has completed all 6 sessions of the course, it is important that he or she is able to apply the learnings going forward. To address this aim, BlockbusterInnovation has created a number of different “toolkits”. Each toolkit consists of a separate cog and video which deals with one of the techniques discussed in the course. Employees will be able to use these toolkits once the course is completed in order to apply the material whenever they want.

In addition, groups of employees will be able to schedule idea generation meetings, and use these toolkits as an effective alternative to traditional brainstorming.

Another way to ensure that the course material stays top-of-mind going forward is through a monthly email prepared by BlockbusterInnovation and sent to all employees who have completed the course. This email consists of:

  • suitable quotes or anecdotes relating to the course material
  • additional examples of how the techniques have been applied in practice (eg. how the copy-and-adapt approach was applied by a different company to solve one of their problems, etc.)
  • a number of examples of good ideas that have been observed in other industries or environments, for use with the Steal the Core Method

In addition, employees are granted access to a database of good ideas (maintained by BlockbusterInnovation) which can be used for the Steal the Core Session Pack in the Toolkit.
