Good Idea #2:
Waitbot

Back to the Good Ideas Database

What is the good idea?

Waitbot is a mobile app which aims to eliminate the waiting time people spend in queues.

The app relies on crowdsourced data from people who are actually standing in queues to estimate the wait times. The algorithm makes uses of GPS positions as well as reports from its users and social network updates.

In this way, people can decide whether or not it's worth going to the planned location.

Here is a short introductory video:

NOW APPLY THE 'STEAL-THE-CORE' METHOD

We identify the core or essence of the good idea we see in a different environment, and then see if we can 'steal' or adapt it for our business or environment.

What is the core?
What is the essence of the good idea?
What is the underlying principle which makes it a good idea?

CORE = giving customers useful information about the waiting time to access a product / service that they are planning to do in the near future

Apply the 'Steal the Core' Method

Are there any aspects of your product / service that require your customers to wait (could be physically in a queue or while using some remote device such as a PC or phone)?
If so, could you provide intelligent information to them about their anticipated waiting time?
Could you provide additional information to help them minimize their wait time (eg. by using different channels or distribution points)?
